Deniz Undav Demands Contract Clarity from VfB Stuttgart

Deniz Undav has set the clock ticking in Stuttgart.

The VfB striker, one of the faces of their resurgence, wants clarity over his future – and he wants it fast. According to Bild, Undav has handed the club an ultimatum: give him a decision on an improved contract by Tuesday, June 2, or risk putting talks on ice.

By then, he will be on a plane to the United States with the German national team, locked in on the World Cup. Negotiations, at least from his side, would be pushed aside. No distractions. No half-measures. World stage first, club future later.

Stuttgart know the stakes. They also know the market. A prolific, late-blooming forward with Undav’s numbers and presence doesn’t come cheap, and they have already moved well beyond his current deal.

As things stand, Undav earns around €4.5 million a year. The new proposal, Bild reports, climbs into the €5.5–6 million bracket per season, plus a €3 million signing-on fee. For most players in Stuttgart’s recent history, that would be a landmark offer. For Undav, it is not yet enough.

The message is clear: he wants his importance reflected in his contract, and he wants it settled before he pulls on the national-team shirt again.

VfB are expected to place a fresh offer on the table before the weekend, a final push to secure their attacking focal point on long-term terms before the World Cup spotlight potentially drives his value – and his options – even higher.

The pressure now sits squarely on the Swabians’ boardroom. Match his demands, or gamble on the idea that time, and Undav’s loyalty, will still be on their side when he returns from the biggest tournament of his career.
