Dastan Satpayev Joins Burnley on Loan from Chelsea

Chelsea’s latest teenage project, Dastan Satpayev, is set to start his English education not in west London but in the Championship, with a loan move to Burnley close to completion.

The Kazakhstan international marked his 18th birthday on Wednesday by signing a six-year contract at Chelsea, with an option for a further season, after a £3.4m deal was pre-agreed with Kairat FC for January 2025. No easing-in period, no soft launch: straight into the loan carousel.

Satpayev has already travelled to Turf Moor and is expected to undergo a medical ahead of Burnley’s home game against West Ham on Sunday. If all goes to plan, he will join Vincent Kompany’s squad in time to be thrown into the Championship grind almost immediately after officially becoming a Chelsea player.

His move is part of another busy week of outbound traffic from Cobham. Ryan Kavuma-McQueen has joined Portsmouth, Reggie Walsh has gone to Wigan Athletic, and Shim Mheuka is also closing in on a loan switch as Chelsea continue to spread their young talent across the English pyramid.

One birthday, a long contract, a Premier League giant and a Championship test: Satpayev’s Chelsea story is barely signed and already heading for its first serious examination at Burnley.
