Copa del Rave: DJ-Driven Charity Soccer Tournament During World Cup

In a city that treats both football and nightlife as contact sports, Copa del Rave is about to sit right in the middle of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The DJ-driven charity soccer tournament, a Los Angeles staple since 2019, is scaling up for the global stage this summer. As the World Cup kicks off across 16 cities in the United States, Mexico and Canada, Copa del Rave is turning two of downtown L.A.’s biggest club rooms — Academy and Exchange L.A. — into a rolling residency of match-viewing parties and after-hours blowouts.

This isn’t just a screen in the corner and a playlist on shuffle. Each event pairs the day’s fixtures with DJs, labels and party crews tied to the nations on the pitch. Claude VonStroke will fly the flag for Team USA. Reggaeton Rave, Gasolina and Bolo’s Vibraza Records will bring the noise for Mexico. Blaq Pages and Afrobeats To The World will channel the African diaspora. The idea is simple: when the whistle blows, the dancefloor doesn’t stop — it just changes tempo.

The clubs will open for pre-game build-up, then flip straight into full-throttle parties once the final whistles sound. For fans, it’s a chance to live the World Cup in real time, surrounded by sound systems instead of stadium seats.

Access stays true to the project’s roots. Entry is free with RSVP, with VIP tables on offer for those who want a guaranteed vantage point and a little more space amid the chaos.

Behind the strobes and smoke machines sits a serious cause. Since launching five years ago, Copa del Rave has raised more than $75,000 for charity. This year, proceeds go to Common Goal, the football-focused organization working to give more kids the chance to play the game.

For co-founders Alastair Duncan and Jonathan McDonald, the World Cup landing in North America — and Los Angeles in particular — was the moment to push the concept to its limit: global dance music and DJ culture, a charity backbone, and the sport’s biggest tournament all colliding in one city over a few feverish weeks.

The World Cup itself is shaping up as a full-blown entertainment spectacle. Away from Los Angeles, stars from across the pop spectrum are lining up for tournament duties, with Madonna, Shakira and BTS confirmed as headliners for the FIFA World Cup halftime show at MetLife Stadium on July 19. It will be the first halftime show in World Cup history, a clear sign that football’s biggest stage is leaning into the same crossover energy that powers Copa del Rave.

On the field, 90 minutes decide everything. In Los Angeles this summer, the party is built to go much longer.
