Chelsea Striker Marc Guiu Set for Transfer to RB Leipzig

Chelsea have agreed to sell striker Marc Guiu to RB Leipzig, clearing the way for the Spaniard to leave Stamford Bridge just a year after arriving from Barcelona.

The 20-year-old is expected to complete a permanent move to the Bundesliga side, though sources in Germany insist there are still details to iron out before the transfer is officially signed off. The deal is understood to value Guiu at around £25m, a sharp rise on the fee of about £5m Chelsea paid Barcelona in 2024.

Guiu, a Spain Under-21 international, never fully settled in west London. He made 29 appearances for Chelsea, scoring eight goals, six of which came in last season’s Conference League triumph as the club lifted European silverware. Those continental nights provided his standout moments in blue, but they were not enough to secure him a long-term role in a crowded attacking department.

His loan spell at Sunderland last season underlined the uncertainty. It lasted just three matches and failed to provide the platform or rhythm he needed. By this summer, the direction of travel was clear: Guiu trained away from the main first-team group, with expectations inside the club that he would move on.

Leipzig, renowned for developing young forwards, have stepped in, and Chelsea have chosen to cash in at a profit after a single season.

Movement Elsewhere

There is movement elsewhere in the squad planning. Midfielder Kendry Paez has been recalled from an unsuccessful loan at River Plate, a decision designed to free up an overseas loan slot. The highly rated youngster is now expected to head back out on another temporary move, potentially to a club in England, as Chelsea continue to shuffle their emerging talents across Europe.
