Chelsea have agreed to sell striker Marc Guiu to RB Leipzig, drawing a line under a brief and curious chapter at Stamford Bridge.
The 20-year-old Spaniard is set for a permanent move to Germany, with only final details left to iron out on the Leipzig side, according to local sources. Chelsea, for their part, have sanctioned the deal and moved on.

Exact figures remain under wraps, but Guiu has been valued at around £25m — a sharp rise on the roughly £5m Chelsea paid Barcelona for him in 2024. For a player who never truly settled in west London, it is a striking piece of business.
A Spain Under-21 international with clear pedigree, Guiu arrived from his boyhood club with expectation and intrigue. The breakthrough never quite came. He made 29 appearances in total for Chelsea, scoring eight goals, and spent part of last season on loan at Sunderland, where he featured just three times in a short and ultimately forgettable spell.
His most telling contribution in blue came in Europe. Six of his eight Chelsea goals arrived during the club’s 2024-25 Conference League-winning run, where he often looked far more at ease than in domestic action. That purple patch hinted at a player who might yet explode.
Chelsea’s coaching staff, though, prepared for a different outcome. Guiu trained away from the main first-team group this summer, a clear signal that the club expected him to move on. Leipzig, long renowned for polishing young forwards, now take on that project.

Kendry Paez has been recalled from an unsuccessful loan at River Plate, his stint in Argentina cut short to free up an overseas loan slot. Chelsea intend to send the midfielder back out again, with another temporary move — potentially within England — now on the cards.
