Chelsea's Ongoing Pursuit of Manu Koné: January Plans

Chelsea’s chase for Manu Koné isn’t over. The window is shut, the paperwork is done, but his name refuses to leave the gossip columns.

In the frantic final hours of the summer market, the French midfielder became one of the most talked‑about players in Europe. Chelsea pushed hard, opening talks with Roma and attempting to drag him to London before the deadline.

They failed. One man made sure of it.

Gian Piero Gasperini blocked the move, standing firm against losing a player he views as central to his Roma project. His stance effectively killed the deal, with the coach making it clear Koné was too important to sacrifice, even for Premier League money.

So Koné stayed. Roma kept their midfielder. Chelsea moved on to other targets.

Or did they?

According to Sport.FR in France, the London club have not cooled their interest at all and are already eyeing a renewed push in January. The Blues are expected to come back to the table in the winter window, still convinced Koné can add power and personality to their midfield.

For now, the 23-year-old remains in Trigoria, protected by a manager who has nailed his colours to the mast. Gasperini is holding his ground. Chelsea, by all indications, are not going away.

January will test whose resolve cracks first.
