Chelsea Sets Hard Line on Enzo Fernandez Amid City Midfield Reshuffle
Chelsea have stopped flirting and set a hard line. Manchester City have until 5pm today to decide whether Enzo Fernandez is worth £120m.
The message from Stamford Bridge is blunt: pay the full price or walk away. City had hoped to negotiate, to chip away at the fee for the Argentina international, but Chelsea are in no mood to haggle, especially after the bad blood that followed Enzo Maresca’s move to the Etihad and the £17m compensation that came with it.
City want Fernandez as the possible cornerstone of a rebuilt midfield. The problem? Their current cornerstone is still there – and Barcelona are pushing.
Rodri, Barca and a £60m question
Barcelona’s pursuit of Rodri has turned what might have been a controlled City rebuild into a potential fire sale. The World Cup winner is available at £60m and talks between the clubs are active, even after two bids were knocked back.

City are in pole position to land Lille’s World Cup breakout star Ayyoub Bouaddi, while winger Savinho is edging towards a £65m switch to Tottenham. The champions are reshaping on the fly, and Chelsea’s 5pm deadline only tightens the clock.

Tottenham, meanwhile, are leaning hard into their own transformation under Roberto De Zerbi. Savinho is the next big swing.
Spurs are “moving in the right direction” to close a £65m-plus-add-ons deal for the 22-year-old Brazilian, who joined City from Troyes for just over £30m in 2024. The London club have already had one of the most aggressive windows in Europe, and they are not easing off.

Atletico move for Romero as Inter turn to Spence
Atletico Madrid have made their own defensive move, agreeing a deal in principle with Tottenham for Cristian Romero. The fee sits around £34.2m with add-ons, and a 15 per cent sell-on clause is expected to be part of the package.

Arsenal, Martinelli and the Osimhen twist
Across north London, Arsenal’s window is far from closed. Mikel Arteta has made that clear. The most intriguing thread now runs through Gabriel Martinelli and Galatasaray.
The Turkish champions have tabled a £38.5m bid for the 25-year-old Brazil winger, who sits at the top of their shortlist, according to journalist Florian Plettenberg. Arsenal, who have already added Christos Tzolis and been linked with Atletico Madrid’s Julian Alvarez and PSG’s Bradley Barcola, are listening.
Those talks have taken a dramatic turn with the introduction of Victor Osimhen’s name. The Telegraph report that discussions between Arsenal and Galatasaray have included the possibility of a move for the striker. It is unclear whether Arsenal are driving that pursuit or whether Osimhen has been offered into the conversation, but one scenario being floated is a deal that sees Martinelli head to Istanbul with Osimhen and a reduced fee going the other way.
Arsenal want another attacker. Galatasaray want a headline winger. If the numbers line up, this could be one of the window’s most explosive trades.
Barcola at the centre of a tug-of-war
Bradley Barcola’s name keeps circling the top of recruitment lists. For Liverpool, he is the priority. For Arsenal, he is a serious temptation.
PSG have slapped a £145m price tag on the 23-year-old, who scored three times for France at the World Cup. Liverpool are not biting at that figure. Instead, they are prepared to wait and see how PSG’s own attacking business plays out.
GiveMeSport’s Ben Jacobs reports that if PSG bring in one or more forwards, Liverpool expect the French champions to soften and accept a fee below €170m. The Reds have cooled on another PSG target, Ibrahim Mbaye, because of the combined cost of signing both players.
PSG have already secured Maghnes Akliouche from Monaco for €50m, but they want at least one more attacking signing before considering a discount on Barcola. Arsenal, lurking with interest, could pounce if they decide to spend big.
For now, Luis Enrique is refusing to be drawn into the noise. Asked about Barcola’s future ahead of Wednesday’s Super Cup clash with Aston Villa in Salzburg, the PSG manager said he would not comment on any player individually, stressing the dangers of speaking positively or negatively about one member of his squad. Barcola only returned to training last Monday with the rest of PSG’s French and Spanish World Cup contingent, yet he could still feature against Villa even as speculation swirls.
