Burton Albion Sign Brighton Winger Caylan Vickers

Burton Albion have moved to sharpen their attacking edge with the signing of Brighton winger Caylan Vickers on a permanent deal.

The 21-year-old joins from the Premier League club for an undisclosed fee and has signed a two-year contract at the Pirelli Stadium, with the Brewers holding an option to extend his stay by a further 12 months.

Vickers arrives with something Burton badly need: proven know-how at this level. Last season he cut his teeth in League One with loan spells at Barnsley and Wigan Athletic, learning the division’s tempo, its physical edge, and its unforgiving schedule.

He came through the ranks at Reading before earning his move to Brighton, but never broke into the Seagulls’ first team, with his development instead coming away from the Amex.

Head Coach's Comments

Head coach Gary Bowyer is backing Vickers to bring a spark to Burton’s front line.

"He's an attacking player who will excite our supporters whilst adding goals and assists to the team," Bowyer said. "Having played at this level already, he arrives ready to contribute and we look forward to seeing how he continues to develop with us."

For Burton, it is a signing aimed at impact, not just potential. For Vickers, it is a chance to turn promise into end product and finally nail down a home.

His first opportunity to impress could come quickly. Burton host AFC Wimbledon on Wednesday evening, and the Pirelli crowd will be eager to see what their new winger can do.
