Bournemouth Sign Michele Di Gregorio on Loan from Juventus
Bournemouth have underlined their ambition with the capture of Michele Di Gregorio from Juventus, a move that gives Andoni Iraola a seasoned Serie A goalkeeper to marshal his back line.
The 29-year-old arrives at the Vitality Stadium on a one-year loan, immediately strengthening competition for the No 1 shirt and adding the kind of high-level experience Bournemouth have rarely been able to call on in goal.
“I’m very happy to be here. This is a very important moment for me and that's why I think the decision to come here to Bournemouth was the right one,” Di Gregorio said after the deal was confirmed. “I felt the club's desire to have me here and I felt the ambition that this club has to continue to grow and do great things. The Premier League is the most beautiful league in the world. It's an honour for me to be here and to have the chance to play and play at such a high level.”
A calculated gamble with clear numbers
Juventus have laid out the financial structure in typically blunt fashion. Bournemouth will pay €1.3m for the one-year loan, giving the Italian club an immediate return as they reshape their goalkeeping department.
That figure may not be the end of it. The agreement includes up to €800,000 in performance-related bonuses tied to Di Gregorio’s season in the Premier League. If he hits those targets, the total cost of the loan rises and Bournemouth will have had a goalkeeper delivering at a high level.
The real decision comes next summer. Bournemouth hold an option to buy for €12.7m at the end of the season, payable over three financial years. On top of that sits a potential €1.5m in add-ons, again dependent on how the move plays out on the pitch.
For a club of Bournemouth’s size, those numbers are not casual. This is a structured bet that Di Gregorio can anchor their defence for the long term.

For Bournemouth’s new director Tiago Pinto, this is an early flagship deal and a clear marker of the direction he wants to take.
“Michele is a goalkeeper with excellent qualities and valuable experience at the highest level,” Pinto said, underlining why the club pushed to get the agreement over the line.
He pointed to Di Gregorio’s consistency during his time at Juventus, where every mistake is magnified and every save dissected. “He has consistently demonstrated his ability in Serie A and in European competitions, and we believe he will be an excellent addition to our squad,” Pinto added.
