Bournemouth's Europa League Schedule: Heavyweight Opponents Await

Bournemouth handed heavyweight Europa League schedule

Marco Rose now knows exactly what awaits Bournemouth in Europe – and it is anything but gentle.

The Cherries have drawn a compelling mix of continental heavyweights, awkward away days and long-haul tests in the Europa League’s new 36-club league phase, with eight fixtures standing between them and the knockouts.

Headline nights jump off the page. AC Milan will come to the south coast, a genuine European giant under the Vitality Stadium lights. Bournemouth also travel to Spain to face Real Sociedad, a club that has grown used to testing itself against the best in La Liga and beyond.

The draw, made under Uefa’s new format, paired every club with two opponents from each of four seeding pots, based on performances in European competition over the last five years. No side can meet more than two teams from the same country, and domestic clashes are off the table at this stage.

Confirmed Fixtures

  • AC Milan (home)
  • Real Sociedad (away)
  • Viktoria Plzen (home)
  • Sparta Prague (away)
  • Sturm Graz (home)
  • Celta Vigo (away)
  • Hapoel Beer Sheva (home)
  • Lillestrom (away)

It is a schedule that blends glamour with grit. Viktoria Plzen and Sparta Prague bring the Czech challenge, with Plzen heading to England and Bournemouth making the trip to Prague. Sturm Graz add Austrian steel on the south coast, while Hapoel Beer Sheva’s visit promises a noisy, intense European night.

Then there are the journeys. A winter trip to Norway to face Lillestrom could be as testing as anything tactically, while Celta Vigo away drops Bournemouth into one of Spain’s most atmospheric settings.

League Phase Dates

  • Matchday 1: 16/17 September 2026
  • Matchday 2: 15 October 2026
  • Matchday 3: 22 October 2026
  • Matchday 4: 5 November 2026
  • Matchday 5: 26 November 2026
  • Matchday 6: 10 December 2026
  • Matchday 7: 21 January 2027
  • Matchday 8: 28 January 2027

From there, the stakes rise. The knockout phase play-offs are set for 18 and 25 February 2027, followed by the round of 16 on 11 and 18 March. Quarter-finals land on 8 and 15 April, with semi-finals on 29 April and 6 May.

The final awaits in Frankfurt on 26 May 2027.

For Bournemouth, the path is clear. The question now is whether Rose’s side can turn these dates into a genuine European run.
