Bayern Munich Confirms Sacha Boey Likely to Stay

Bayern Munich sporting director Christoph Freund has admitted that Sacha Boey is now likely to stay at the club, despite plans to move him on this summer.

The Bundesliga champions had been open to offloading the 25-year-old, but no deal was completed before the German transfer window shut, leaving Boey in limbo and Bayern with a decision to make.

That decision now seems clear.

"The probability is now greater that he'll stay here," Freund told reporters on Friday, underlining a shift from Bayern’s original strategy.

Freund stressed that Boey’s conduct throughout the uncertainty has impressed the club.

"He's always behaved in impeccable fashion. The plan was different, but this can happen in football," he said, acknowledging how quickly transfer plans can unravel once deadlines loom and options dry up.

With the German window already closed and other markets soon to follow, Bayern’s stance has hardened.

"When all transfer windows are closed and he's still here, then he'll remain a player in our squad," Freund added.

For Boey, a summer that was supposed to bring a fresh start now points towards a fight for relevance in Munich instead.
