Bayern Munich 3-1 RB Leipzig: Saibari Shines in Debut
Bayern Munich’s pre-season stepped up a gear at the Allianz Arena as they overpowered RB Leipzig 3-1, a performance that looked far more like a statement than a simple warm-up.
Luis Diaz struck first. The Colombian needed just 14 minutes to announce himself, finishing to give Bayern control and an early cushion. Leipzig chased, Bayern dictated, and the hosts carried that narrow 1-0 lead into the break without ever looking fully stretched.
The restart changed the rhythm. Leipzig came out with bite and were rewarded when Bryan Gruda dragged them level in the 52nd minute, punishing a lapse and briefly tilting the momentum.
The response was ruthless.
Five minutes later, Nathaniel Brown restored Bayern’s lead, racing onto a sharp pass from Aleksandar Pavlovic and making no mistake. One incisive ball, one cool finish, and Leipzig were chasing again.
Then came the first glimpse of Bayern’s newest face.
On 71 minutes, Moroccan international Ismael Saibari stepped off the bench for his debut, replacing Tom Bischof after his summer move from Eindhoven. It did not take him long to justify the excitement. Around 10 minutes after coming on, Saibari carved open Leipzig’s defence and set up fellow substitute Jamal Musiala for Bayern’s third, a neat combination that underlined the depth waiting in reserve.
Musiala’s impact, though, ended abruptly. In the 86th minute, the playmaker fainted and was forced to leave the field, with young Senegalese talent Bara Ndiaye coming on in his place to see out the final minutes.
By then, the contest was done. Bayern had their win, their new signings had left fingerprints on the game, and the Allianz had a first real taste of what this reshaped side might become.
Next comes the first real piece of silverware on offer: the domestic Super Cup against Borussia Dortmund on Saturday. After that, the Bundesliga campaign opens against Stuttgart on 28 August — and on this evidence, Bayern intend to hit the season running, not easing their way into it.
