Bayern Munich to Make Michael Olise Their Financial Cornerstone

Bayern Munich are moving to lock Michael Olise into their future – and they are prepared to pay like never before to do it.

The German champions want to extend the French winger’s contract and turn him into the highest-paid player at the club, according to French newspaper L’Équipe. That is despite Olise already being tied to Bayern until 2029 after his move from Crystal Palace in the summer of 2024.

Olise had long been linked with a dream move to Real Madrid. That door may not be closed forever, but for now the message is clear: he will remain in Germany for at least another season, with Bayern determined not to lose the player they believe can shape their future.

A big part of that conviction comes from his relationship with Vincent Kompany. L’Équipe reports that Olise has found the “perfect environment” in Munich, helped by a strong bond with the Bayern coach, who has pushed his game to another level. Any new deal is expected to come with a key change: a release clause. His first contract did not contain one, but an extension would almost certainly include a defined exit figure, giving both player and club clarity if Europe’s giants come calling again.

To make Olise their top earner, Bayern will have to go beyond some serious numbers. As of April 2026, Harry Kane and Jamal Musiala sat at the top of the wage bill, each earning around 2.1 million euros per month. Behind them, Manuel Neuer was on 1.75 million euros, with Joshua Kimmich and Dayot Upamecano both at 1.66 million euros.

Bayern are now ready to push Olise past that bracket.
