Bay FC Signs Kennedy Fuller in Bold Move for NWSL Ambition
BAY FC have made one of the boldest moves of the NWSL season, prising highly rated midfielder Kennedy Fuller and an international roster spot from Angel City FC in a deal that underlines the club’s ambition.
The expansion side will send $500,000 in intra-league transfer funds and $20,000 in allocation money to Los Angeles, a significant outlay for a teenager who has quickly become one of the league’s most intriguing young creators. Fuller will link up with Bay FC after the June international window.
A Statement Move for a Club in a Hurry
This is not a depth signing. It’s a statement.
At 19, Fuller already carries the résumé of a seasoned professional. She has appeared in all 11 of Angel City’s matches in 2026, chipping in two goals and two assists before the NWSL’s June break. In 2025 she emerged as one of the league’s premier playmakers, finishing in the top 10 for chances created with 36 and taking home Week 24 Player of the Week honors.
Bay FC head coach Emma Coates made no attempt to play down the significance of the move, calling Fuller “an exciting player and a fantastic addition” and highlighting her creativity and quality on the ball. Coates sees a player who can immediately elevate Bay’s attack, but also one whose ceiling is still rising.
The message is clear: Bay FC are not content to simply establish themselves. They intend to accelerate.
From Teenage Prodigy to Centerpiece
Fuller’s rise has been rapid and relentless.
The Southlake, Texas native turned professional at just 16, making her debut in March 2024 after becoming only the eighth player signed under the NWSL’s Under-18 Entry Mechanism. She didn’t just survive. She thrived, quickly justifying Angel City’s faith with her vision, touch, and willingness to take responsibility in the final third.
Now Bay FC are betting heavily that those formative seasons in Los Angeles will pay off in San Jose.
For a club still shaping its identity, Fuller offers something priceless: a young, attack-minded midfielder with proven NWSL production and the confidence to demand the ball in big moments. She arrives not as a prospect tucked away on the bench, but as a player expected to influence games from day one.
International Pedigree, Big-Game Experience
Bay FC are not just getting a domestic standout. They are adding a U.S. youth international who has been a constant presence in the national setup since 2022.
Most recently, Fuller featured for the U.S. U-20 National Team in June, lining up alongside current Bay FC forward Onyeka Gamero. That familiarity should ease her transition into the dressing room and onto the pitch.
Her international record reads like the early chapters of a star’s career. She helped the U.S. U-15s lift the Concacaf Women’s U-15 Championship in 2022, taking home the Golden Ball as the tournament’s best player. Two years later, she collected more silverware with the U-17s, winning gold at the 2024 Concacaf Women’s U-17 Championship and bronze at the 2024 U-17 World Cup, scoring 12 goals across those two tournaments.
Her performances earned her a place among the three finalists for U.S. Soccer’s 2024 Young Player of the Year award, a nod that placed her firmly on the national radar.
A Fit for Bay FC’s Ambition
For Fuller, the move is as much about environment as opportunity. She described herself as “incredibly excited” to join Bay FC, pointing to conversations with Coates and her staff that convinced her this is a place where players are pushed to grow and reach their potential. She spoke of learning from new teammates, connecting with the fans, and doing everything she can to help the club compete for championships.
That last word matters.
Bay FC have made it clear they do not view themselves as a long-term project waiting patiently for success. This deal, rich in both financial commitment and footballing upside, reinforces that stance.
Fuller arrives with NWSL minutes, international medals, and the kind of creative profile every attacking side craves. The question now is not whether she belongs at this level. She’s already answered that.
The question is how quickly she can turn Bay FC’s ambition into something more tangible on the table.
