Arsenal Pursue Ezri Konsa as Top Defensive Target

Arsenal have stepped up their pursuit of Aston Villa defender Ezri Konsa as they look to land their top defensive target before the window closes.

Sources indicate there is growing optimism that a deal can be struck to bring the England international to Emirates Stadium, with the Premier League champions increasingly intent on testing Villa’s resolve.

Konsa has been identified as Arsenal’s first-choice option at the back, but negotiations remain locked on one key issue: price. Villa are holding firm at a £60m valuation, a figure Arsenal have so far refused to meet.

Talks between the clubs were reopened last week, as revealed by BBC Sport, yet even after renewed contact the two sides still fell short of an agreement. The gap in valuation has left discussions delicately poised, with neither club blinking yet.

For a brief spell, it looked as though Arsenal might move on. The Gunners appeared to pivot towards Bayer Leverkusen’s Jarrell Quansah, exploring an alternative route to strengthen their defence.

Now the focus has swung back to Konsa. Arsenal are pushing again, edging closer, but the deal will only move if someone gives ground on that £60m line in the sand.
