Arsenal Discuss Martinelli Transfer with Galatasaray
Arsenal have opened the door to a summer clear-out, holding talks with Galatasaray over potential deals for several squad players – with Gabriel Martinelli and Ethan Nwaneri among the names on the table.
The Turkish champions are understood to have made a verbal offer worth around €45m (£38.5m) for Martinelli, a bid that underlines how highly the Brazilian is rated across Europe. For now, though, the 25-year-old is reluctant to swap north London for Istanbul, and that hesitation hangs over any prospective agreement.
Arsenal are believed to be inviting offers for Martinelli and highly rated youngster Nwaneri as they look to reshape Mikel Arteta’s attacking options in this window. The talks with Galatasaray have gone beyond a single name, with multiple players discussed as the clubs explore ways to structure potential business.
The conversation took an intriguing turn when the future of Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen was also raised. While the Nigerian forward is contracted to the Turkish side, his name entering the dialogue hints at the wider market movements both clubs are weighing up as they plan their next steps in attack.
Martinelli had attracted tentative interest from Paris St-Germain earlier in the window, but the French champions have since turned their attention to other targets. That leaves Galatasaray at the front of the queue for now – yet with the player cool on a move to Turkey, Arsenal’s attacking puzzle is far from solved.
