Arsenal Considers £38m Bid from Galatasaray for Martinelli

Arsenal have been forced into a major call on Gabriel Martinelli’s future after Galatasaray tabled a £38million offer for the winger.

The Brazilian, now 25, is into the final year of his deal in north London, though the club hold an option to extend it by another 12 months. That safety net gives Arsenal some leverage, but not unlimited time. The first serious test of their stance has arrived.

Galatasaray make their move

Galatasaray have gone beyond sounding out intermediaries and lodged a formal bid, seeing Martinelli as a statement signing to jolt their attack and underline their ambitions. The offer lands at a moment when Arsenal are open to a sale at the right price.

Whether Martinelli actually wants the move is another matter. There is no suggestion he is agitating to leave. His preference is understood to be staying in one of Europe’s top leagues, and he has not been pushing for the exit door at the Emirates.

For now, the decision sits with Arsenal: cash in on a valuable asset or hold their nerve while they reshape the squad.

Arsenal’s transfer puzzle

Mikel Arteta is actively looking to add a different profile on the left wing, a new angle to an attack that has often felt predictable in that channel. If Arsenal do green-light Martinelli’s departure, that search instantly becomes more urgent and more complicated.

Sales are expected to dominate the final weeks of the window. Arsenal are looking to find buyers for Gabriel Jesus, Reiss Nelson and Fabio Vieira, and the club have not ruled out more high-profile exits depending on how those deals and other targets develop.

The chain reaction is obvious. Should those moves materialise, the room – and perhaps the need – for a bigger reset grows.

Tzolis in, but more to come

Christos Tzolis has already arrived from Club Brugge in a £34m deal and has caught the eye in pre-season. His signing, though, was designed to replace Leandro Trossard, who left for Besiktas in a £15.3m move, rather than to close down the market for another winger.

From the outset, Arsenal planned to bring Tzolis in alongside a more marquee wide addition. That blueprint now collides with Galatasaray’s offer and the question of how much faith remains in Martinelli as a long-term starter.

Seven years, no guaranteed place

Martinelli has been at Arsenal for seven years, a symbol of the club’s rebuild and a player whose ceiling once looked sky-high. Yet he has never fully nailed down the status of undisputed first-choice on the wing.
