Alyssa Thompson Named Player of the Match in Chelsea's Victory

Alyssa Thompson has been voted Player of the Match after a sparkling display in Chelsea’s 3-0 win in Sydney, capping the club’s pre-season tour of New Zealand and Australia.

The USA international was at the heart of everything Chelsea did going forward. She played a key role in the first two goals, finished by Sandy Baltimore and Sjoeke Nusken, as Chelsea seized control of the contest.

The vote on the Chelsea Official App reflected just how tight the race was. Thompson edged it with 29 per cent, narrowly beating Baltimore, who collected 27 per cent after opening the scoring, and Lexi Potter, whose well-taken third goal earned her 23 per cent.

Thompson’s pace, movement and constant willingness to attack pinned Sydney back and set the tone for a dominant performance that closed out the tour in style.
