Balde digs in

He believes he can still win over Hansi Flick. He is not prepared to leave simply because his role has become less secure or because he has slipped behind others in the pecking order.

Barça open the door – but only halfway
Inside the club, the stance is more nuanced.
Barcelona are ready to study proposals for Balde as they reshape the defence and weigh up late-window moves. His situation is part of a wider recalibration at the back under Flick, who wants flexibility and competition in every position.
Yet this is not a fire sale. The Catalans are not desperate to offload him and will only consider bids that meet their valuation. A crossroads, not a dead end
All of that makes Balde a less certain pick than in previous seasons. It does not make him irrelevant.
His speed, his ability to surge into space, his physical profile – those are still rare tools. If no offer arrives that truly convinces him, the most likely scenario is that he stays at Barça and embraces the fight for minutes.
That would leave him needing to reclaim his place on merit, not memory. From the club’s perspective, that might even be healthy. A player pushed out of his comfort zone often responds, and Barcelona know there is more to unlock in Balde’s game.
If he trains and plays to the level his potential suggests, Hansi Flick will find it hard to ignore him. With the window ticking into its final days, the question is no longer just whether Balde has a future at Barcelona – it is whether this jolt becomes the making of him.
