Al-Taawoun Sack Coach Lazetic After 6–0 Defeat
Al-Taawoun have dismissed coach Zarko Lazetic after a brutal 6–0 collapse against Al-Hilal in the seventh round of the Roshn Pro League, a result that ripped away any remaining protection around the Serbian’s job.
The decision comes at the end of a nightmare opening to the season. Seven games, no wins, just three points. Four defeats, three draws. For a club with Al-Taawoun’s ambitions, it was a start that left little room for patience.
The numbers told one story. The performance against Al-Hilal told another, even harsher one.
Al-Hilal dominated from the first whistle, tearing through Al-Taawoun with ease and exposing a side that looked fragile, disorganised and, by the end, beaten in every sense. Six goals conceded in a single evening turned a bad run into a full-blown crisis and forced the board’s hand.
That rout became the breaking point of Lazetic’s spell in charge. The team offered almost nothing in response, outplayed in every duel and every phase of the game as Al-Hilal dictated tempo and territory at will.
After the match, Lazetic did not hide from the gulf between the two sides. "It's difficult to say anything, and we congratulate the opponent, they were a million times better than our team and in all aspects of football, and that's all I have," he admitted, a raw assessment that underlined just how painful the night had been.
The club moved quickly. By the time the dust had settled on the 6–0 defeat, the announcement had arrived: Lazetic was out.
Now Al-Taawoun step into uncertainty. The board must find a coach capable of arresting the slide, restoring belief and turning a historically poor start into something salvageable. With the season already tilting away from them, the next appointment will define whether this is just a stumble — or the beginning of a long, difficult campaign.
