Adam Jackson Ends Lincoln City Spell, Stays to Train

Adam Jackson’s time as a Lincoln City player is over, but he has not walked away from the club just yet.

The 32-year-old defender has agreed to terminate his contract by mutual consent after being told earlier in the summer he would not be part of the Imps’ 25-man squad for this season. A move failed to materialise before the transfer window shut, leaving both player and club to find another solution.

This is it. On paper, at least.

Jackson’s deal is done, yet he will continue to train with the squad while he searches for a new side, an unusual arrangement that underlines the bond built over six years at the club.

He arrived in Lincoln and stayed long enough to become part of the furniture. Across all competitions he pulled on the shirt 179 times, a steady, often understated presence in defence as managers and team-mates came and went.

This season, though, his only outing came in the Carabao Cup, a win away at Blackpool in late August. That appearance now looks like a final cameo rather than the start of another campaign in red and white.

Respect and Practicality

Lincoln’s sporting director Jez George framed the decision as a mark of respect as much as practicality. He said the club will “do anything to help Jacko with what comes next in his career”, a line that speaks to a relationship that has survived the harsh reality of squad registration rules.

“That shows the respect both parties have for each other,” George told the club’s website.

So Jackson steps out of the squad but not off the training pitch, staying sharp with a Championship club while he waits for the right offer. Six years, 179 games and one last act: preparing for the next chapter somewhere else.
