Ruben Amorim Eyes Surprise Move for Manchester United Defender Leny Yoro at AC Milan
AC Milan head coach Ruben Amorim is reportedly interested in a late transfer move to sign Manchester United defender Leny Yoro before the summer window closes. The Portuguese manager seems keen on reuniting with the young French player amid a difficult period for Yoro at Old Trafford.
Amorim Seeks Defensive Reinforcement at Milan
Sources from Tuttosport reveal that Amorim has been exploring options to bring Yoro to the San Siro. Recently appointed as Milan's boss, he held an extensive five-hour meeting with club directors Hendrik Almstadt and Bobby Gardiner to finalize transfer targets ahead of the deadline.
The 20-year-old defender moved to Manchester United from Lille in a £52 million deal two years ago but has struggled with form and fitness, especially after a serious ankle injury during his debut season. Since then, he has been on the fringes of the first team under interim manager Michael Carrick.
Yoro’s Position at Manchester United
Yoro’s place at Manchester United has been uncertain lately. He was an unused substitute during the opening day loss to Hull City and made only a late cameo against Ipswich Town, replacing Diogo Dalot in the 73rd minute. Despite limited game time this season, Yoro has appeared 67 times for the Red Devils, scoring once and providing three assists.
Moving to Serie A under a manager who appreciates his potential might offer Yoro a fresh start and more regular football.

"All the players in the world want to play in this competition. I did the Conference League, Europa League, and now I’m going to play in the Champions League. So yeah, I think the step is very good. It’s a competition with the best players in the world," Yoro said on Manchester United’s official site.
He added, "The other lads have spoken about when you train with the Champions League ball and hear the music of the Champions League, it’s just a different atmosphere from the league. We play against different clubs from all over the world, so [they have spoken to me] about the atmosphere and the magic of this competition."
Milan’s Ambitious Transfer Plans
AC Milan have been very active this summer, spending over £128 million so far. They aim to strengthen three key positions before the window closes: attacking midfielder, left-back (with Barcelona’s Alejandro Balde linked), and central defender.
