Teen American Talent Zavier Gozo Joins Crystal Palace on Major Premier League Deal
Crystal Palace has secured the signature of Zavier Gozo, a young American prodigy from MLS side Real Salt Lake. The 19-year-old winger agreed to a five-year contract reportedly worth over $15 million, marking a significant step in his promising career.
Gozo expressed excitement about joining the Premier League club, saying, "I’m really looking forward to playing in the Premier League with Crystal Palace. It’s the dream of any footballer. I’m excited by the people and the project they have going on here. I’ve seen a lot of it, and that’s what excites me about this club as well, the success that they’ve had."
A Rapid Rise From Utah to England
Hailing from West Valley City, Utah, Gozo’s journey has been swift. After moving from his local club to Real Salt Lake’s youth academy six years ago, he made his MLS debut at just 16 in 2023. His breakthrough season caught many eyes, including Crystal Palace’s scouts.
This spring, Gozo netted six goals and added five assists in 16 starts during the first half of the MLS season. His impressive form earned him his first MLS All-Star selection, reflecting his rising status in American soccer.
"I think [my rise] even happened a little bit too fast for me sometimes to even think about and appreciate," Gozo told Sports Illustrated. "Life moves so fast. You play well for a couple of games, and you’re an All-Star. It came faster than I thought and faster than a lot of people thought. It’s been a great journey."
Joining Forces With Fellow USMNT Player Chris Richards
At Crystal Palace, Gozo will join another American, Chris Richards, a mainstay defender for the U.S. men’s national team who played a vital role in the 2026 World Cup. Being seven years younger, Gozo hopes to follow Richards’ path and aims to make his senior national team debut this fall.
Richards sent a warm welcome via video message, saying, "Yo bro, it’s Chris. Heard through the grapevine you might be joining me in South London all the way from the 801. Can’t wait to get going. Congrats bro, and see you soon."
