World Cup 2026: Live Scores and Standings from June 25 Matches
Two weeks after the tournament kicked off on June 11 in Mexico City, the group stage of the World Cup is nearing its end. On Thursday, June 25, many teams competed for their place in the Round of 32. Eight out of twelve teams playing that day battled for a knockout spot.
This year’s World Cup offers three ways to qualify: finishing first or second in the group, or for the first time, being among the top eight third-place teams across all groups.
Thursday’s Fixtures and Venues
- 4 p.m. ET: Ivory Coast vs. Curacao (Lincoln Financial Field, Philadelphia)
- 4 p.m. ET: Germany vs. Ecuador (MetLife Stadium, East Rutherford)
- 7 p.m. ET: Sweden vs. Japan (AT&T Stadium, Dallas)
- 7 p.m. ET: Netherlands vs. Tunisia (Arrowhead Stadium, Kansas City)
- 10 p.m. ET: Australia vs. Paraguay (Levi’s Stadium, San Francisco)
- 10 p.m. ET: USA vs. Turkey (SoFi Stadium, Inglewood)
Germany and the United States had already secured top spots in their groups before these matches. Tunisia and Turkey were already out of contention. The other teams fought hard to claim final positioning.
Group D Highlights
The U.S. defeated Australia 2-0, securing first place in Group D. However, Turkey clinched a dramatic 3-2 victory over the U.S. at SoFi Stadium with a stoppage-time goal by Kaan Ayhan. Despite the loss, the U.S. remained group winners.
Australia and Paraguay drew 0-0, which was enough for Australia to advance as the group’s runner-up. Paraguay missed out on the third-place qualification.

Group F Summary
Netherlands topped Group F after beating Tunisia 3-1, while Japan and Sweden played to a 1-1 draw. Sweden's late equalizer by Anthony Elanga kept their hopes alive, allowing them to progress as one of the best third-place teams.
Group E Recap
Ecuador pulled off a surprise 2-1 win over Germany at MetLife Stadium, securing their spot in the knockout round alongside Germany and Ivory Coast, who also won their match against Curacao 2-0.
Curacao was eliminated after this loss. Germany had already clinched the group lead before these games.
