Tottenham Pursues Savinho and Marmoush in Double Transfer Deal
Tottenham are pushing ahead with an ambitious double move for Manchester City forwards Savinho and Omar Marmoush, with talks between the clubs described as progressing but not yet close to the finish line.
Spurs have tracked Brazilian winger Savinho for years. Their interest dates back to 2025, when the 22-year-old chose to stay at Etihad Stadium instead of seeking a fresh start. That decision never truly paid off. He started only seven Premier League games last season and, after arriving from Troyes in 2024 for £30m, he is now ready to move on in search of a bigger role.
Marmoush is a different case but tells a similar story. Signed by City from Eintracht Frankfurt in 2025 for £59m, the 27-year-old slipped down the pecking order under Pep Guardiola in the 2025-26 campaign. Even so, he still returned eight goals in 36 appearances across all competitions – hardly disastrous numbers for a player out of favour.
City’s exact asking price for the pair remains unclear, but the Premier League champions expect to bank a sizeable profit on both forwards if they sanction their exits. They have already begun a major reshaping of the squad this summer, with captain Rodri, midfielder Tijjani Reijnders and goalkeeper James Trafford among those to depart.
For Tottenham, the focus is clear: sharpen an attack that badly misfired last season.
De Zerbi’s rebuild demands firepower
Roberto De Zerbi has already ripped up and rebuilt his midfield. Mateus Fernandes has arrived from West Ham United and Sandro Tonali from Newcastle, the pair costing a combined £185m as Spurs attempt to reset the core of their side.
Yet De Zerbi has been blunt about where the real problem lies. Tottenham limped to 17th in the Premier League last term, scoring just 48 goals in 38 games. That return has forced the club into the forward market, with Savinho and Marmoush now at the centre of their plans.
Savinho offers direct running and width, the kind of one‑v‑one threat De Zerbi leans on to stretch defences. Marmoush brings versatility across the front line and a track record of working hard out of possession. Between them, Spurs see the potential for a new attacking blueprint.
The financial puzzle
There is, however, a complication. Tottenham also remain interested in Liverpool’s Cody Gakpo, another forward who fits De Zerbi’s aggressive, front-foot style. Whether the club can realistically fund a move for the Netherlands international on top of deals for both Savinho and Marmoush is unclear.
Something may have to give. A double deal with City would already demand a major outlay, especially with the champions intent on profit. Add Gakpo to that equation and the numbers start to stretch.
For now, the talks with City continue. Spurs chase two forwards, City weigh up another profitable summer, and De Zerbi waits to see if the attack he has demanded will arrive in time to drag Tottenham away from the wrong end of the table.
