Deschamps Confirms Mbappe Fit for France Ahead of World Cup Semi-Final vs Spain

Didier Deschamps has reassured fans that Kylian Mbappe is fit to play in France's upcoming World Cup semi-final clash with Spain despite recent ankle concerns. The star forward had been spotted training separately, raising doubts about his condition, but the coach clarified that this was part of a cautious recovery plan.

Fitness Concerns Addressed

Mbappe was substituted late in France's 2-0 win over Morocco after reporting a minor ankle injury. When he appeared to train away from the main squad, reports suggested lingering discomfort. Still, Deschamps dismissed any setbacks, stating that Mbappe felt good and that his reduced training time was simply a precautionary measure.

"He feels good," Deschamps told The Athletic. "He has the right, like others, to go 15 minutes instead of 20 minutes on a drill."

France Gains with Tchouameni's Return

Alongside Mbappe’s expected availability, France may also benefit from the return of midfielder Tchouameni, who was recently sidelined. Deschamps noted that although the player wasn’t fully recovered for the last game, he is now ready to join the squad, offering more strength in midfield against a Spanish team known for its possession play.

"Even though he was on the bench for the last game, the risk was still high. He’s better today. I’m not going to say he has been 100 percent cured. He’s now available," said Deschamps.

Looking Ahead to Spain

Mbappe enters the semi-final leading the Golden Boot race with eight goals, edging out Argentina’s Lionel Messi on assists. His presence is crucial as France prepares for a tough encounter with Spain. With both Mbappe and Tchouameni likely fit, Deschamps' squad looks stronger heading into one of the tournament's most anticipated matches.
