Man Utd Targets Midfield Reinforcement with £68m Star Leading the List

Manchester United have made moves in midfield this summer, signing Youri Tielemans and Andrey Santos, but their search isn't over. The club is keen to add a specialist defensive midfielder before the transfer window shuts.

Aurelien Tchouameni Tops Man Utd's Wish List

Journalist Ben Jacobs revealed that Aurelien Tchouameni remains the most desired target for United’s midfield rebuild. The Real Madrid player, valued at around £68 million, is described as being "right near the top of the list." This shows just how much the club values the 26-year-old French international.

"Tchouameni is highly rated by United, but his loyalty to Real Madrid and a new contract agreement there make a deal unlikely," said Jacobs.

Despite the admiration, convincing one of the world's best defensive midfielders to leave the Bernabeu presents a major challenge.

Other Midfield Options on United's Radar

If Tchouameni proves out of reach, Manchester United has alternatives. Manu Kone from AS Roma is reportedly a high priority. Discussions about personal terms might have taken place, though club negotiations are yet to start. Alex Scott of AFC Bournemouth is also a contender, even though his club wants to keep him. Carlos Baleba of Brighton continues to be monitored after another solid season, while Tyler Adams, also at Bournemouth, offers Premier League experience and defensive solidity.

Among these names, Tchouameni stands apart with his elite defensive skills, composure, athleticism, and top-level experience. If available, he'd naturally lead the shortlist.

Realistically, signing him looks tough, so players like Kone and Scott may become more likely signings before the deadline.
