ITV Secures Rights to Broadcast 2027 Rugby World Cup

ITV will broadcast the Rugby World Cup in Australia next year, marking its tenth consecutive time covering the tournament. All 52 matches, including those from the group stage and the knockout rounds, will be shown live.

World Rugby chief executive Alan Gilpin described the deal as more than just a renewal with a familiar partner. He said it represents a commitment to ensuring UK viewers can enjoy one of the world’s most celebrated sporting events along with its excitement and standout moments.

Longstanding Partnership and Future Coverage

ITV has held broadcasting rights for every men's Rugby World Cup since 1991. The broadcaster also secured rights for the 2026 and 2028 Nations Championship editions and holds shared rights with BBC Sport for most Six Nations matches through 2029.

Viewers in the UK will have free access to all England men’s games scheduled until summer 2029 on ITV. Matches involving Scotland, Wales, and Ireland will also be broadcast free-to-air during this period.

The 2027 Rugby World Cup kicks off on October 1st with hosts Australia facing Hong Kong in the opening match.
