Inter Milan Close to £30m Curtis Jones Deal with Liverpool

Inter Milan are moving to the brink of a £30m agreement for Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones, in a deal that would end a long-running pursuit and close the book on one of Anfield’s most debated futures.

The Italian champions saw a verbal offer of 25m euros (£21.7m) knocked back in June, with Liverpool holding firm to a valuation closer to £35m for the 25-year-old, who is entering the final year of his contract. That stance has softened just enough. A package worth around 35m euros (£30m) is now understood to be the figure that could unlock a deal.

In Italy, there is growing confidence that a verbal agreement is already in place. Inside both clubs, the message is more cautious: key details still need to be thrashed out before anything is signed. But the numbers are finally in the same postcode.

Liverpool, crucially, are open to selling. They want something that mirrors the £30m deal Inter agreed with Tottenham for Djed Spence, using that as a benchmark for both structure and value. Inter’s interest is not new; they tried to bring Jones in on loan with an option to buy in January, only for Liverpool to reject the proposal and keep him for the run-in.

This time, the door is ajar.

Jones leaves behind a substantial body of work on Merseyside. Since his debut under Jurgen Klopp in 2019, he has racked up 228 appearances in all competitions, a figure that underlines both his durability and Liverpool’s long-term faith in him. Last season, though, told a different story.

He featured 49 times across all competitions but started only 18 Premier League games, unable to nail down a guaranteed place in Arne Slot’s midfield. For a player entering what should be his peak years, the stop-start nature of his role has sharpened the question: stay and fight again, or move and reset?

Inter are betting on the latter. Liverpool, for the right price, look ready to agree.
