Dominik Szoboszlai Signs Long-Term Deal with Liverpool

Dominik Szoboszlai has tied his future to Liverpool, signing a new long-term contract that is expected to run until the end of the 2030/31 season.

The club have not disclosed the exact length, but the deal is understood to be a five-year extension, a clear statement that the Reds’ No 8 is seen as a central pillar of the next era at Anfield.

“It’s maybe my biggest day,” the 25-year-old said after putting pen to paper. He placed it alongside two of the most significant moments of his life: his original move to Liverpool and the birth of his child. “In my football career, I can say this is in the top three. Very happy. [I] can’t wait to go again and again and again. I’m just happy to be here, as I said many times.”

Those words carry weight because of what has come before them.

Szoboszlai arrived from RB Leipzig three years ago, a highly rated talent expected to add energy and invention to Liverpool’s midfield. He has done that and more, growing from promising signing into one of the team’s undisputed reference points.

In a 2025/26 campaign that fell short of Liverpool’s usual standards, the Hungarian stood out. While others struggled for rhythm, he delivered numbers and performances that kept the season from drifting entirely off course: 13 goals and 12 assists in 53 appearances across all competitions. That output, from midfield, in a turbulent year, underlined why the club moved so decisively to secure his future.

The recognition came from inside Anfield as well. Szoboszlai was named Liverpool’s Men’s Player of the Year, a personal honour that reflected both his influence on the pitch and his growing stature in the dressing room.

This new deal locks in the prime years of a player who has already shown he can carry responsibility when the mood around the club darkens. Liverpool are reshaping, recalibrating, trying to build a side that can contend deep into every competition again.

Szoboszlai will not just be part of that rebuild. He is one of the reasons they believe it can succeed.
