Barcelona Secure Karim Adeyemi in Five-Year Deal from Borussia Dortmund
Barcelona have finalized the transfer of forward Karim Adeyemi from Borussia Dortmund, signing the attacker to a five-year deal at Camp Nou.
The exact fee remains undisclosed officially, but reports from ESPN suggest an initial payment around €22 million (£18.8m) with up to €7 million (£6m) in performance-related add-ons. Dortmund may also receive a cut of any profit if Barcelona sell Adeyemi in the future.
Adeyemi’s youth career included a stint at Bayern Munich, but his professional breakthrough came in 2018 with Austrian club Red Bull Salzburg.
"Now you see him." – FC Barcelona tweeted upon announcing the signing.
Career Highlights Before Barcelona
During his time at Salzburg, Adeyemi scored 33 goals and provided 24 assists in 94 appearances before moving to Dortmund in the summer of 2022. Over four seasons at BVB, he played 146 matches across all competitions, netting 36 goals and setting up 25 others.
The Germany international has considerable European experience, appearing 48 times in the Champions League with 16 goals and seven assists. His arrival adds pace and creativity to a Barcelona attack that recently welcomed Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United.
"FC Barcelona and Borussia Dortmund have agreed on the transfer of forward Karim Adeyemi, who has signed until 2031," the club stated officially.
He is versatile, capable of playing on either wing or as a central striker, known for his speed and powerful left foot. Current coach Hansi Flick knows him well, having given Adeyemi his senior international debut while coaching Germany.
When Could Adeyemi Make His Debut?
Adeyemi was not part of Germany’s squad at the 2026 World Cup and arrives without injury concerns. He should be ready to feature immediately for Barcelona.
His first appearance might come after the opening pre-season friendly against CE Europa on Friday, possibly during the trip to England next week. A likely debut could be in the friendly against Birmingham City on July 31.
His competitive debut under Flick may take place when Barcelona begin their La Liga season at home against Elche on August 23.
