Teams Advancing to the 2026 FIFA World Cup Semifinals
Out of the initial 48 teams competing in this year's World Cup, only four remain in contention. These squads feature some of the finest players in the world, including France's Kylian Mbappe, Argentina's Lionel Messi, England's Jude Bellingham, and Spain's Lamine Yamal. Each has had standout moments throughout the tournament, and all now face the challenge of overcoming one another to reach the final.
Current Semifinal Bracket
France
France entered the knockout rounds with a strong performance, defeating Sweden 3-0 in the Round of 32. Their match against Paraguay was tougher but ended in a 1-0 victory thanks to a penalty by Kylian Mbappe. The team's 2-0 win over Morocco secured their third straight semifinal appearance. France will face Spain next.
Spain
Spain has been solid defensively, conceding only one goal in the tournament so far. They edged out Portugal 1-0 in the quarterfinals, effectively ending Cristiano Ronaldo’s World Cup journey. Following that, Spain defeated Belgium 2-1 to secure their semifinal spot against France.
England
England reached the semifinals for the second time in three tournaments after close wins against DR Congo, Mexico, and Norway. The Three Lions are set to meet defending champions Argentina in the next round.
Argentina
Argentina pulled off an intense comeback against Egypt, with Lionel Messi scoring a critical goal to level the match after trailing 2-0 late in the second half. They then beat Switzerland in extra time during the quarterfinals to advance and will face England next.
