2026 FIFA World Cup Round of 16: Schedule, Matchups, and Team Qualifications

The 2026 FIFA World Cup began with 48 teams competing. Following an intense Round of 32 filled with penalty shootouts, last-minute goals, and surprising eliminations, the competition has now narrowed to just 16 teams.

Co-host nations Canada, Mexico, and the United States have all exited, leaving traditional soccer powerhouses such as Argentina, Belgium, England, France, and Spain among those advancing to the quarterfinals. Two matches in the Round of 16 are scheduled for Tuesday to finalize the quarterfinal lineup.
