Anthony Musaba Joins Norwich City on Loan
Anthony Musaba has sealed a season-long loan move to Norwich City, reuniting with head coach Philippe Clement and giving the Championship club a much-needed injection of pace on the left flank.
The 25-year-old arrives from Fenerbahce on a straight loan, with the Turkish club agreeing to cover a proportion of his salary. Norwich explored the possibility of inserting a purchase option, but with Musaba tied to a lucrative deal until 2030, the numbers never stacked up for a permanent commitment.
Norwich’s stance hardened once their need became urgent. Ali Ahmed, expected to compete on the left wing, suffered a serious knee ligament injury in the final pre-season friendly against Osasuna, ruling him out long term. City went back into the market, and the search quickly led them to a familiar face for Clement.
Reunion with Clement
Musaba and Clement worked together at Monaco, and that relationship clearly left a mark on the winger.
"I’m really happy and excited to be here. I spoke to a lot of clubs, but I really wanted to make what I felt like was the perfect move," Musaba told the club’s official channels.
"I got a really good feeling when I spoke to the people at this club. I know the coach too, so that was also a really big boost.
"I remember him (Philippe Clement) from my time at Monaco – I came from a loan spell and played a lot of that pre-season with him.
"He was always helping me, making me better, both as a person and player."
The right-footer flew into England on Monday night, completed his medical and quickly agreed personal terms. He will wear the number 49 shirt.
Ready-made for the Championship
This is not Musaba’s first taste of English second-tier football. He previously turned out for Sheffield Wednesday, where he produced 23 goal contributions in 80 appearances, building a reputation as a direct, unpredictable threat.
"I know the league already. I’ve experienced it and know how tough it is, but I feel like I’ve made a lot of progression since then," he said.
"There are a lot of games to look forward to and I can’t wait to get going."
Norwich see that experience as a key part of the appeal. Musaba becomes the club’s fifth senior signing of the summer, joining headline arrival Andre Brooks, an £8m addition on the opposite wing, as Clement reshapes his wide options.
Knapper backs ‘perfect fit’
Sporting director Ben Knapper believes Musaba’s profile matches exactly what Clement wants from his front line.
"I’m delighted to welcome Anthony and his family to Norwich City," Knapper said.
"We feel he is a great fit for us and his profile really suits the demands of both our team and the league more broadly.
"He is quick, powerful, direct and arrives with lots of experience throughout Europe and in the Championship specifically.
"We’re all excited to work with him this season and I’ve no doubt that he’ll play a key role in pushing us towards our targets."
Norwich now hand Clement a winger he trusts, a player who knows the division, and a replacement for an injured talent. How far that combination can carry City in a gruelling Championship campaign is about to be tested.
